‘What Moves You?’ Video Contest and Statewide Events

in Contests

March 8-14, 2010 is MS National Awareness Week and the National MS Society Michigan Chapter kicks off the week with its first-ever YouTube video contest and activities planned across the state.

For the month-long “What Moves You?” contest, participants are asked to submit short videos creatively expressing reasons for supporting the National MS Society and encouraging others to join in. Entry forms and additional details are available at www.nationalmssociety.org/mig.

In addition to launching the contest, cities throughout Michigan are planning MS Awareness Week activities. These include local restaurants donating a portion of their sales to MS including ones in Allen Park, Auburn Hills, Chesterfield, Dearborn, Farmington, Grand Rapids, Grandville, Kentwood, Monroe, Northville and Royal Oak; a pub crawl in Ferndale; and a Nintendo Wii Bowling Tournament in Grand Rapids.

A complete list of activities can be found at the chapter’s website, www.nationalmssociety.org/mig.

With a “MOVE IT!” theme, MS Awareness Week encourages and enables people all over the world to come together for one week of the year to increase awareness about MS and move the message forward toward creating a world free of MS.

What Moves You? Video Contest

The National MS Society Michigan Chapter is launching the contest with its own YouTube video debuting March 8 on its Facebook page.

Videos must be submitted by March 21 and YouTube viewers will have until March 31 to “vote” for their favorites. Each click to view a video counts as a vote.

Two winners will be chosen; one from the video that receives the most YouTube viewings and a Chairman’s Choice winner – selected from the top 10 finalists for most viewed videos.

Both winners receive MS Society duffle bags filled with goodies and will have their videos featured on the chapter website and Facebook pages.
